Rates

I'll be happy to provide an estimate for your particular genealogical needs.

Research involving estate or probate records, censuses, birth, marriage, death, immigration and similar records is charged at $50 per hour. A one-hour minimum retainer is required prior to the start of research. Charges are for the search, regardless of what we find. This service can include a narrative report and scans of any support documentation, where applicable.

For Los Angeles County archival lookups, a one-hour charge of $50 is usually sufficient to locate a case file in the microfiche index. If a case file is found, a second hour charge may be needed to locate and review microfilm of the case.

Printed copies of the case cost 50 cents per page. Postage to mail the printed copies to you is extra. If you prefer, I can send scans in PDF format, and no postage charges will be necessary.

If there are additional costs, such as translation services or archive entry fees and mileage, those will be added to the base charge and you'll be advised of these costs ahead of time.

Quick lookups (one single query from online resources, not involving a visit to local archives) are $30 per lookup, payable in advance.

For extensive research projects a deposit of half the estimated cost is required before research commences. The balance is due before final reports are issued.
