About us

Natalis Genealogy is headed by me, Debra MacLaughlan Dumes. I'm a twenty-five-year veteran of genealogical research with a B.A. in English and Foreign Languages, an M.A. in Ancient Cultures and Languages, and a graduate of the ProGen professional genealogy study group.

I'm also a descendant of the beautiful kids above. From left to right they're Georgia Jatho (born in 1882), her sister Maryliese (born in 1886), and brother Herbert, born in 1884. Some of my most enjoyable research projects have involved the Jatho family of Charleston, South Carolina and their related clans. They inspired me to broaden my horizons and become a professional researcher.

I'm a member of the National Genealogical Society, the Association of Professional Genealogists, and the Southern California Genealogical Society.

In North America I focus on all available regions, from Canada to the United States to Mexico, with special expertise in archives and repositories in Los Angeles County, the American Midwest (Illinois and Wisconsin in particular), and the Carolinas.

I also provide genealogical translation services in German, French, Danish, Russian, and Latin.
